A pineapple

A perennial herb-thorny plant, with a fruit like a big cone, painted in a golden brown, golden yellow color, is called pineapple. The tropical bush consists of narrow, hard, fleshy leaves with thorns along the edge. Ripe, green plants give flower stalks, on the tops of which there are many bright colors - white, burgundy, purple. An elongated, oval or cylindrical fruit is nothing more than a pineapple fruit. If you look inside it, then there is a strong axis, on the sides of which there is a fragrant, juicy pulp. The top of this amazing exotic fruit is decorated with a bunch of green leaves.

Description of the story

Since ancient times, this fruit plant grows in the semi-arid regions of Brazil and Paraguay. Pineapple is mentioned in many songs, legends, beliefs. The indigenous population of South America endowed it with magical properties, often using it in ritual ceremonies. Thanks to Christopher Columbus, like many other exotic plants, pineapple finds its way to Europe, where it gains unheard-of popularity among the nobility. Today this exotic fruit, on an industrial scale, is grown in many countries with a tropical, warm climate. Features of care and maintenance

When growing pineapple in a greenhouse, greenhouse, winter garden or at home, you must observe the temperature regime. Summer temperature - 25C, better - 28-30C. Winter temperature - 22-24C, better - 25C. At home, it is better to keep the plant near a battery (flower stand, coffee table, etc.) or on a battery, having previously placed plywood under the flowerpot. Since pineapple is a light-loving plant, the side must necessarily be sunny, with a lack of light, it must be illuminated with a fluorescent lamp. Watering is carried out with settled melt or rain water. In the absence of such, boiled or plain water from the tap is used. Pre-settled, with the addition of citric or oxalic acid (acidity can be checked with litmus paper). Heated water, approximately - 30C, sprayed the bush,and water is poured into the outlet, without waterlogging the soil under the plant. Every two weeks, pineapple must be fed with liquid complex mineral fertilizers, having previously filtered. Once, twice a month, the bush should be sprayed with an acidified solution of ferrous sulfate (1 g for 1 liter of water). The solution is also poured into the outlet. Taking proper care of it, after 3 - 4 years, pineapple will delight you with its fruits.

These exotic fruits can be grown indoors. For example, take a fresh pineapple fruit, cut off a whole rosette of leaves from the top. Wash it in a pink solution of potassium permanganate, sprinkle with ash and let it dry for five or six hours. Then we plant it in a container with a capacity of no more than 0.6 liters, after placing a loose earth mixture on the bottom of the pot (turf soil, leaf humus, sand, peat –1: 2: 1: 1). Next, add a mixture of leaf humus and sand (1: 1), by 3 cm. In the central part of the soil we make a hole, slightly more than the rosette of the cutting and 2-3 cm deep. Put chopped charcoal into the hole and immerse the socket in it. Be sure to install sticks (3-4 pcs.) In the container, to which we attach the handle itself with strings. We put a transparent plastic bag on the pot and put it in a bright place.The temperature required for germination is 25-27C. After two months, when the plant has taken root and threw out new leaves, we remove the bag. After a year, we transplant the bush by transshipment, the main thing is not to destroy the lump of earth.


Application methods

This exotic juicy fruit is eaten raw as a dessert, but it has found wider uses in cooking. Excellent combination with seafood, meat, poultry makes it possible to use it in main dishes. Pineapple puree is added to yoghurts, sweets, ice cream, fruit salads, and baked goods. The pulp is used to make wonderful jams, juices, cocktails. Canned fruits are known in many countries of the world. In Taiwan and the Philippines, spinning fiber is obtained from the leaves of the bush. It should be noted the beneficial properties of pineapple, thanks to which it is used in medicine. The healing fruit contains: Proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, magnesium, chlorine, iodine. Many vitamins vital for humans: A, B, C, E, make pineapple a very healthy fruit.
